Drop Everything And Read

And that we did.
The whole week was a celebration of books and reading. The entire school started their mornings with fifteen minutes of silent reading, and later on in the day either Mr. Blaho or Mr. Garrett would announce a surprise 'DEAR' over the intercom, which lasted for about ten minutes.

On Monday the whole school was treated to a Dr. Seuss inspired cake to celebrate his (belated) birthday. On Tuesday the elementary school got to decorate their book bags according to their favorite books. On Wednesday we had a guest illustrator come in, Sandro Asatiani, to talk to us about illustrating and his books. Parents of kids in the elementary school were also invited to come in and read to students. On Thursday, before the Science Fair started, students paraded down the hallways and into the gym dressed up as their favorite book characters.
