CDC Speaker

Students of QSI Tbilisi were honored to be
visited by Dr. Skaggs, a microbiologist who works with the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). Dr. Skaggs, who is the mother of two students in the secondary school, gave a 45 minute lecture on microorganisms: bacteria, fungi, viruses, parasites and many more. While there were classes for which attendance was mandatory, the number of people that showed up to listen to Dr. Skaggs was larger than expected, with students and teachers coming in for this fascinating presentation. The gathered crowd learned about Ebola from a reliable source, instead of the somewhat exaggerated information received from media, as well as getting personal insight on the work that goes on in laboratories. A great way too finish the week of school!
